Kayla Rees MA, LMHC
(she/her)
I identify as white, cis-female, and queer.
Work as a therapist is a deeply personal endeavor for me, one that has touched my life personally and professionally in profound ways. I am committed to continuing my own growth through professional trainings and ongoing work in understanding the ways my identity and privilege impact the world around me.
Outside of therapy, I am typically found with my partner and son, or reading and writing at one of many favorite coffee shops around Seattle.
Professional Background
I earned my MA in Counseling Psychology at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology, and my BA in Psychology at Taylor University. I have a background in emergency medical care, as well as several years experience working with families experiencing homelessness in Seattle. I came to love therapy through the different ways I have witnessed and experienced pain throughout my life, and the power of intervention and care that can follow when it is available. I completed an internship and worked for several years in community mental health with families, children, adolescents, and adults. During these years I received training in short-term therapies, mindfulness, Mental Health First Aid, and relational psychotherapy. Most recently, I have completed sex therapy training with the Northwest Institute on Intimacy as well as the Body Trust training with the Center for Body Trust.
